Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology

Dr. Vinay Gupta -Research Scientist, Masdar Institute, UAE Vinay Gupta is an Indian materials scientist and a former senior scientist at the Physics of Energy Harvesting department of the National Physical Laboratory of India. Gupta has held three major research fellowships; JSPS fellowship of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (1998–2000), Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (2003–04), and Indo-US IUSSTF fellowship (2012-2013). He was listed as the highest cited author by Elsevier in 2006 and he was selected as one among the top 10 Indian scientists with the highest number of citations during the period 2010–14 by Thomson Reuters in 2015. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards, for his contributions to physical sciences in 2017.

DR. T. S. KAPOOR, Ph.D., LL.B, M.Sc.

Additional Director, Police Forensic Science Laboratory, Rajasthan, India

Dr. Tara Shankar Kapoor is former Additional Director of Police Forensic Science Laboratory, Rajasthan and a recognized forensic expert specializing in handwriting and documents examination. Dr. Kapoor has been active since 1972 and has worked on thousands of cases, scientific reports and has provided hundreds of testimonies in courts as a forensic expert. He earned a diploma in Scientific Examination of Questioned Documents from National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science (NICFS), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi. Dr. Kapoor also holds a Diploma in Scientific Crimanilistique from Aix-Marseille University, France and was felicitated by Ministere de l’Interieur of France for his outstanding contribution and technical cooperation in Forensic Sciences at International level. Dr Kapoor has co-authored more than two dozen research papers published in several international and national journals. In addition, several of Dr. Kapoor’s work has been referred to by various books and other forensic experts. Dr. Kapoor holds Ph.D. and Masters (M.Sc.) degrees in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) from University of Rajasthan. He was a visiting professor in Aix Marseille University and was awarded post doctoral fellowship in Organo Metallic Lab Marseille France.

MR. NARSHER SINGH Director of Prosecution Department, Haryana

Mr. Narsher Singh, serving as the director of Prosecution Department, Haryana has a very keen interest in the field of School Education. He believes that “Success comes to those who work hard and stays with those who don’t rest on the laurels of the past.” He did his schooling from Bhiwani and completed bar studies from Ajmer-Jaipur. He was appointed as District Attorney in the year 2000 and in the service of 18 years; he has held several posts in Haryana Civil Services such as District Attorney and Additional Director of Prosecution. While serving as Additional Director of Prosecution of Haryana, he has pleaded and represented State in many cases before the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court. He has contributed in many social activities and is a renowned social worker. He has a very important role in the politics of Haryana. He was also elected as Secretary Bhiwani Bar Association consecutively for 4 years. He is known for his effective administration. He is currently serving in responsible capacity of Director of Prosecution in the field of Prosecution in the State of Haryana.

MR. SURENDRA KUMAR APHARYA

Mr. Apharya did his M.A. in Indian Ancient History and Culture from Agra University.

He joined Archeological Survey of India in 1976 and worked on preserving our rich culture and monuments, temple restoration, documenting and drawing in detail with precision. He is major contributor for many archeological literatures.

His inclination towards art since childhood resulted in wonders when passion with profession combined. Inspired by the idea of rejuvenating the dying ancient art of miniature, he started the impossible quest for miniature writing on grain of Rice, Postage Stamp and even human hair.

His zeal for miniature writing blended with Indian Vedic culture thoughts of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and he wrote names of all countries in the world on a single Grain of Rice (1749 characters).

Not satisfied, he wrote complete Jawahar Lal Nehru’s first speech to Independent India “Trust with destiny” on a small postage stamp (19.69mm * 17.82mm).

All of them were recognized as ‘Guinness world Records’. Never settling on his achievements, he alone holds 7 Guinness world records on his name. Painting Indian flag and marking Indian centenary in 3 parallel lines on a single strand of human hair, splitting human hair in 27 parallel sections are some more of his achievements. Awardee of Rajasthan Gaurav, Rajasthan Shree, Yuva Ratan, Outstanding young person award, MPSI outstanding personality, Limca Book of record are some of his miniature achievements.

He is recognized worldwide and showcased on ASIA Pacific Who’s Who, History Channel and DD National channels which strive him to achieve more and more.
